The Star reviews We Kiss release party

Drew6 rules!

One of Kansas City’s most popular nightclub acts, Drew6, packed the downtown Crosstown Station recently for the band’s CD-release party. Think of the event as a soft R-rated Nick & Jake’s Go to the City.

The dialogue was to die for.

“My name’s Drew, and this song’s about foreplay,” lead singer Drew told the crowd before launching into one song. “How many of you girls got a tattoo? Drew6 wants to see it!” he said before another.

The ensemble of the evening for the heavy duty female-populated crowd: would you believe, Sex and the City-style cocktail dresses?

As usual, the sound was incredible at Crosstown Station — that in spite of the clear, seemingly liquid-filled acrylic tube mic stand with green lighting coursing through it and a 3-foot-long black bandana/scarf tied to it with a white skull and crossbones overlay.

The solid gold dancers on the dance floor down front served up knowing nods of approval during the song “I Know You Want to Sleep With Me” when Drew spun away from the crowd and unleashed a series of booty machinations. Suffice it to say, you had to be there.
